Two projects that both seem to be “a website” can require very different amounts of work. The price does not depend only on the number of pages: it also changes with architecture, content, integrations and the level of design.
The scope must be explainable
A professional proposal defines which pages, features, languages and deliverables are included. A fixed price makes sense when those variables are limited. If they are not yet known, it is more honest to work with a starting price and finalise the proposal later.
What usually increases the work
- Fully custom design and components.
- Catalogues, private areas or checkout processes.
- Integrations with external tools.
- Copywriting, photography or uploading large amounts of content.
- Several languages and extensive SEO requirements.
How to compare proposals
Do not compare only the final figure. Review the scope, who prepares the content, what happens to the domain, how access is handed over and what support is available afterwards. A clearer proposal reduces surprises during the project.
